Accomplishments

Entered Star Fleet Academy as a Midshipman at age 19. Majored in Spatial Navigation and Warp Drive Engineering. Finished fifth in his class. Assigned to U.S.S. Farragut, heavy cruiser, as an Engineering Technician with the rank of Ensign at age 22. Transferred to Navigation the following year. During the initial planetary survey of Vendor IX, he discovered and apprehended a Vendorian who had used its abilities of cellular metamorphosis to take the form of a fellow crewmember. This helped him advance two full grades to Lieutenant, and got him assigned to U.S.S. Hermes as Navigation Officer. After three years of excellent reports, he was promoted to Lieutenant Commander at the Captain's recommendation, and transferred to U.S.S. Darius, destroyer, as Chief Navigator. Advanced to Commander three years later. At age 33, after distinguising himself in the Battle of Axanar, he was promoted to Captain and given the command of the U.S.S. Enterprise. At that time he was the youngest academy graduate ever to command a starship. While Captain, Pike participated in over two hundred planetary surveys, including the initial contacts with Alpha Majoris I, Antos IV, Barlow's Planet, Berengaria VII, Coridon, Gamma Vertis IV, Lavinius VI, Manark IV, Rigel VII, Talos IV, Thasus, and Typerius II. On Rigel VII he suffered the loss of his yeoman and two other crewmen. His feelings of guilt almost resulted in him resigning from Starfleet. After a short 'vacation' on Talos IV, he realized he had to get on with life. Accepted promotion to Fleet Captain at age 45, and taught at the Academy for two years as an Instructor aboard a training starship. In 2261, when the baffle plates on an old Class J starship ruptured, he rescued seven Cadets, for which he received his second Medal of Honor. However, was paralyzed and disfigured by prolonged exposure to Delta radiation as a result of the rescue. He was offered the Advisory position of Federation Ambassador to the Talos star group, planet #IV, where he could at least preserve the illusion of his former appearance and mobility. There he married Vina, the woman he met when he previously visited Talos IV. While there the Talosians were able to effect limited repairs on his body.

Personal History

He's married to Vina, the lone survivor of the S.S. Columbia that crashlanded on Talos IV in 2232. They have three children, Todd (12), Dusty (9), and Steve (7). Father and Mother are still living in Mojave on Earth. Sister, Joan, is presently living on Martian Colony Four with her husband. Significant past romances include Yeoman Laurel Colt and Commander Leigh Chapel, sister of Nurse Christine Chapel, but he's been happily married since returning to Talos IV.
